4/26/24- This past weekend I decided to try out Outback Steakhouse. I hadn’t been there in almost a year, so I thought it’s been enough time since I last went. Usually when I get a steak I don’t go to Outback. It’s out of the way and usually pricier than just cooking your own or going someplace else.
To drink I had a strawberry kiwi lemonade which was refreshing, and had the perfect balance between sweet and tart. The price was $3.49, which is a fair price considering there are free refills. I recommend getting it while at Outback.
I then ordered a bloomin onion covered in flour and deep fried, the result looks like a flower that has bloomed. It was fantastic, there wasn’t one bit of onion left within 10 minutes of getting it. The price was $9.99, which I think is fair for the quantity of food. I truly recommend you try it out anytime you go to Outback.
Since Outback is a steakhouse, there was no doubt in my mind I would get a steak. I opted to get a 16 oz. sirloin steak with a loaded baked potato. Within minutes of ordering my server came back and informed me that they were out of baked potatoes, so I had to get loaded mashed potatoes. My meal did not take long to arrive, not more than 25 minutes which was great. The meal, on the other hand, was not.
I asked for medium rare steak, but it was rare. The inside of the steak was barely even warm. After 2 bites of the steak, I asked the server to take the steak back to the kitchen and cook it longer. When it was brought back it tasted a bit better, but I was still not satisfied. The steak costed $16.79 which I thought was far from a fair price.
I hope this was just an off experience, but based on this I would not recommend Outback Steakhouse. Instead I would recommend Texas Roadhouse. It has very similar menu items including their own take on the Bloomin Onion and plenty of Steaks with better prices.
