Salisbury High School is putting on a production of this year’s play “Our Town,” written by Thornton Wilder. Rehearsals are currently taking place, and the theater community is working hard to make the show the best it could be.
Directed by Shannon O’Grady, the play is set to run from Nov. 7-10 in the school auditorium with production times to be determined.
In an interview, Mrs. Shannon O’Grady expresses her love and passion for theatre, and what makes this upcoming production worth coming to.
“With all the chaos and anger, in the world, I wanted a story about good people, appreciating family, nature, and the simple things in life,” Mrs. O’Grady said.
We asked Mrs. O’Grady what themes the audience should expect if they choose to come see this production.
“Appreciation of nature, appreciation of family, and appreciation of good simple people,” she said. “Society puts too much focus on the rich and famous, and we should pay more attention to everyday heroes.”
According to Wikipedia, The play follows the story of the Gibbs family and the Webb family in the fictional town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, between 1901 and 1938 through the everyday lives of the citizens.
The cast has shown their excitement for the play, and in an interview with high school senior, Faith Spellacy, playing George, talks about why theatre is one of her favorite things to do.
“Theatre is a great community to be a part of, everyone is super nice and hilarious people, if you’re able to act or sing, it’s a good way to be able to use those talents,” Faith said.
As the final month of production is upon us, make sure to keep an eye out for tickets, mark your calendars, and come to support your school theatre and see a production you won’t want to miss.
