The number 4 ranked team in the nation, the Penn State Nittany Lions of College Township Pennsylvania, just north-east of Altoona, are taking on the number 5 ranked team, the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, of South Bend Indiana. Just north of Idianapolis Indidna
Penn State made their way into the College Football playoffs by defeating the 20th ranked Illinois Illini in the regular season. In the postseason, they went through SMU and Boise State, beating SMU by 28 and Boise State by 17.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish also made their run to the College Football Playoffs by defeating the unranked, but also powerhouse teams, Texas A&M, Florida State University, University of Southern California and then the 22 ranked Army in Yankee Stadium.
In the 2024-2025 seasons the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Penn State Nittany Lions beat their opponents total with 532 points just in the regular season. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are in control with 308/532 points and Penn State with 224/532. This stat shows how much control each team had this year. Whether you think that it’s because of easy schedules, good plays, good players etc. 532 points are roughly 76 touchdowns, not including field goals, 2 pt conversions. That perspective makes all the points totaled even crazier.
I think that the Penn State v.s Notre Dame game was a good game. It didn’t go as planned in my opinion, it was a very good game. My reasoning behind the previous statements are; in the end of the 2nd quarter, Notre Dame was trailing Penn State, 3-10, while scoring all the points in the 2nd quarter for both PSU as well as ND. At the end of halftime Notre Dame scored a touchdown making the score 10-10 end of the 3rd. The fourth quarter is when things started to get good! Notre Dame scored 17 & Penn State scoring 14. Making the outcome 27-24 Notre Dame. To recap my previous statements, it didn’t go as planned. The last snap of the game, the quarterback Drew Allar, don’t get me wrong, I love when he plays like a D1 college quarterback, but not so much when he plays like a middle school quarterback. But on the other hand he snapped the ball id if you are down by three you would probably run a quick snap to get into FGR, but now he gets pressured and throws it out of bounds with 1 second left as he throws it, ending the game.
After this game the CFB fans, stat nerds and more, will all be watching the College Football National Championship.
