The Salisbury boys track and field team won their opening meet of the season vs. Northern Lehigh. This was the very first meet under new head coach Alexander Hess, and it was a dominating one. With the final score being 90-55.
Pole Vaulter Steven Lozada and Sprinter Jamanni Cruz were very impressive, winning all of their events. Cruz took first place in the 100m, 200m, and 4×100 relay. Meanwhile Lozada won long jump and pole vault with ease.
“This victory was long overdue, and it was nice to get a win for Coach Hess,” said Cruz.
Since then, the Falcons have dropped their last two meets against Palmerton and Northwestern Lehigh.
This upcoming week they have two meets on Tuesday and Wednesday, a very unusual situation. Their last meet against Catasauqua was postponed due to uncircumstantial weather conditions.
Will Salisbury be able to get that winning feeling back? Or will the slump continue: they take on a challenging opponent in Lehighton on Tuesday.
