Why do some people try to take celebrities down? Why are they so obsessed with trying to prove a point? The question is beyond me. When I started seeing countless feeds on my social media about the problems Ariana Grande has been creating in this world, it was shocking.
I think people hate on celebrities for no reason at all. Ariana Grande used to be so popular and so loved by everyone; she was the #1 for a long time, and all of the sudden, there’s many people that no longer like her. I still love her as a person and I don’t understand what the big deal people are making this out to be. I think a lot of people want to believe she causes a lot of problems, and make poor choices, so she’s considered problematic.
Between 2015 and 2020, Ariana Grande was so popular. She was constantly releasing albums, and such iconic music videos, that she was known by everyone. During her biggest selling tour, Sweetener, she earned $80 million dollars. Also, before the tour was even halfway over, she surpassed her past tours’ worldwide totals.
Many people were confused when she was wearing the same high ponytail hairstyle all the time, but she had to, because of her hair damage from filming Nickelodeon TV shows back in 2010. In 2023, she has changed her appearance drastically, and people are questioning if something is wrong with her, and they don’t see her the same way.
My dad and I have been listening to Ariana’s music for such a long time. It’s sad for both of us now, knowing that she’s not as popular as she used to, and that so many haters are giving her a hard time, and were mostly jealous of her fame, and singing voice.
On Twitter, a while after Ariana Grande and Victoria Justice filmed “Victorious,” Victoria had things to say about Ariana. “Some people would throw someone that they consider a friend under the bus just to make themselves look good.” She then hashtagged, #StopBeingAPhony #IfTheyOnlyKnew.
My friends also used to be big fans of her music, and some of my new friends don’t even make an effort to care about her whenever I bring her up.
Fans were getting angry with Ariana when she started to focus more on her beauty/makeup line instead of making music, which is what people thought she should be doing instead.
In 2019, Ariana Grande released a song on her album titled “thank u, next.” The song was “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored.” This song was supposedly for Ethan Slater, who was with his girlfriend, soon to be wife, Lilly Jay. After they filed for divorce, people went on to blame Ariana for coming in between their relationship.
After Ariana Grande had changed her appearance, by bleaching her hair and eyebrows, and started to style it differently, she also had lost a lot of weight and became paler overtime, she didn’t seem the same way, and was concerning people. People would then accuse her of using Asian culture to be more interesting, and that she was being “fake.”
Overtime, Ariana has lost some fans, and people stopped listening to her and started listening more to other artists. After releasing her latest album, “Positions,” on the chart, it’s clear to see that it didn’t fly off the charts as much as her previous albums did.
Some actually may argue that Ariana Grande wasn’t even that popular from the start, and that people said the same things even when she had just begun making music in 2012. People would say how embarrassing it was for her to be releasing music when she came from Nickelodeon in the first place, starring in the show “Sam and Cat” as well as “Victorious.”
Ariana Grande is truly an amazing person with such a caring heart, who would never purposely try to do any wrong. She’s so genuine and kind, that she doesn’t deserve to be canceled. I think once she comes out with new music, and starts touring again, that she can prove to society that she cares about her fans.
After COVID, a lot changed, and she hasn’t gone on tour in a while, so it’s almost like she’s being forgotten. Will society keep fighting to find ways to cancel Ariana Grande for good? Will she regain her fans in the future?
