3/18/24- In a recent derby match between Turkish Süper Lig teams Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor. Fernerbahce were down 2-0 but miraculously came beck 3-2. During celebrations for the third goal, Trabzonspor fans jumped onto the pitch and charged at the Fenerbahce players.

One man tried to square up with the goal scorer and another man was said to have had a weapon. Some even took shots at a man that was wrestled down by security according to ESPN.

Fans began pouring onto the pitch and security tried to stop them. After a while, Fenerbahce fans were forced to go into the locker room and wait for the attackers to be moved from the pitch.

Fenerbahce goalkeeper and Croatian shot stopper, Dominik Livaković was injured as an unknown object was thrown at him and he was proceedingly punched in the face. Livaković is still recovering from an injury during the match and from what is now being reported as a large coin causing a bloody face injury according to nogomania.com, but will be back to playing soon, coaches from Fenerbahce say.

This is not the first incident of violence during the beautiful game in Turkey and will not be the last considering a month ago a referee was punched in the face by a team’s president at full time.

Though incidents like this involving crazy fans have not happened in Salisbury, it has happened at an away district game for boy’s varsity soccer in 2023 against Wilson. When home fans were often taunting Salisbury players. Hopefully this never happens in Salisbury but crazy fans are a problem across the world.
