Dorney Park is doing a short film based around a haunt. It launched on Oct. 2, 2024, on Youtube and titled, “tick, tick, tick” on Dorney Park’s account. Dorney Park wanted to attract more people into coming to haunt so they created the short film as a way to seek interest from people who view that short film to gain more population in Dorney Park itself.
There have been a lot of mixed messages with figuring out if this Dorney film is a hit.
Maddie, a haunt worker this season said, “I’ve been working at Dorney as a character for only a month, I started this season. I love the job and scaring people,”.
“If you can’t scare them, make them laugh,” Maddie said.
“A lot of people scream. I’ve scared people enough for them to fall to the floor or run down the hall.”
Now, Maddie hasn’t seen the short film that Dorney created, “I think it’s pretty good for a theme park film. Being behind the scenes during the haunt makes the entire thing a different experience,” she said.
These new changes that Dorney Park has added new haunt booths, new haunted houses and new ideas of scares make the haunt experience much more fun according to Maddie.
“It seems a lot better than before.”
On the other hand, Bayan Suleiman, a student from Salisbury High School who goes to Dorney Park, watched this short film.
“It’s alright, just like it’s fine., it’s mid,” Bayan said.“My recommendation was to add something better to catch the viewer’s eye.”
Other than Bayan’s opinion on this new short film, “Not a Hit”, she also said, “Personally, it needs to be scarier and get the boo necklace out of here.”
The boo necklace is a necklace that Dorney Park created for those who don’t want to be scared to just wear this necklace and they won’t get scared during haunt.
On the contrary, Noor, who is a worker at Dorney Park as a food associate, dislikes Dorney Park. She said she dislikes the “hierarchy” of it. “I hate the working aspects of Dorney Park especially when I finish a shift, it’s foggy, quiet, nobody’s there, and it gives an eerie feeling.”
The pricing affects why Noor dislikes Dorney Park.
“The price of food and fast lanes are crazy. They are charging over 100 for fast lanes.”
Although Noor dislikes Dorney, she agrees that the security is good.
“They have good security checks and metal detectors; it’s as safe as an amusement could get.”
There are some perks to Dorney Park as being the hangout spot where it’s fun to go with your friends.
“I enjoy most of the haunted houses. I haven’t gone to the newest one but my favorite would be the graveyard. This doesn’t change my thoughts at all, I still feel the same way as I always do about Dorney. The haunted houses aren’t scary when you go through them a dozen times., I walk through them like there is nothing,” Noor said.
“It’s exciting when it’s your first time there, but after a couple of times it gets boring and repetitive, I wish they would add some new aspects every year so I have something to look forward to every time.”
According to Noor, Dorney Park’s haunt is just so repetitive that it’s tiring. And in response to the new Dorney Park haunt film she said she “never heard of it?”
Dorney Park created this short film as an interest seeker for more people to come to Dorney Park, but their workers have never even heard of the film. That leads to the question, “What Dorney Park Haunt film?”
Overall, on Dorney Park’s website, their ticket prices range from 30-43 dollars, and their fastlane from 55-120 dollars. The entertainment is fun, featuring over 100 rides and 25 games, including an arcade.
Dorney Park’s haunt depends on the person, people, and the experiences you have. As for the film, maybe it just wasn’t a hit as so many people thought it would be.
