Tyler, The Creator just announced that his eighth album titled “Chromokopia” is coming out next week on Oct. 28, 2024.
In an interview, he said that he’s been working on this album for 12 years, while also working and releasing all his other albums and singles.
Many people and YouTubers are making predictions about who’s going to appear on the album based on who Tyler has worked with in the past, such as Frank Ocean, Kanye West, Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky, Westside Gunn and Kali Uchis.
“I’m so excited for Tyler’s new album. I’m manifesting that Frank Ocean will be on it,,.” Camila Gomez states her feelings on the upcoming album.
He’s been releasing snippets of his projects across different social media platforms such as his new songs: ST. CHROMA, and NOID as well as new merchandise and the Chromokopia World Tour list. (The closest show to Salisbury is Pittsburgh, PA.)
“I’m going to listen to his new album especially with my friend Jorge,” Caleb Wygand, a sophomore at Salisbury, said.
Tyler’s first song that he released is called ST. CHROMA. It starts off with a chanting of the album name, followed by whisper-singing, giving an unsettling, eerie feeling to the listener.
In the music video, it starts off black and white, the main character (portrayed by Tyler) is leading men in suits into a trailer which he eventually blows up, once it does everything is in color.
His second song was “NOID” which came out on Oct. 21. The new song seems to go over the topics of fame and how celebrities are paranoid about always being watched and followed by paparazzi and fans.
The topic is similar to another one of his songs titled “Colossus” which was released in a different album many years before.
Ayo Edebiri, a popular actress who appears in “The Bear,” stars in this new music video as an obsessed fan.
Tyler has already released merchandise like T-shirts, hoodies, posters, CDs, vinyls, hats, tote bags and keychains on his website.
“Of course I’m listening to his new album,” Jorge Fontan, a big Tyler, The creator fan, excitedly states. “I set an alarm to listen to it when it comes out. My favorite song is “Couch,” an unreleased song by Tyler and Earl Sweatshirt. I hope Frank Ocean, Steve Lacy, and Kendrick Lamar will appear on some songs. I don’t think this album will be similar to any other one, it’s going to show Tyler’s authentic self.”
Tyler’s new album has been in the works for over a decade and will bring a new persona and new songs unlike any other project he’s done.
