Districts here we come

Your Salisbury Falcon Boys Soccer team has qualified for districts!

After last season missing out on districts the Falcons have bounced back and have qualified for district 11 playoffs. Salisbury battered the Lincoln Leadership Lions winning 10-1.

Goals from Alejandro Zuniga Garcia-2, Christian Marinos-2, Jack Monahan-1, Andrew Grejda-1, Jacob Knerr-2, Anthony To-1 and Ahmed Suleiman-1.

Earlier in the season the Falcons beat the Lions 8-3 away. In a convincing win. With Freshman Emerson Bower scoring.

“I felt as if I was part of the team.” said Emerson when asked about scoring.

“I think we’ll put up a good fight.” said Emerson when asked about Salisbury in Districts.

But with Lincoln getting 3 on the Falcons they came to SHS with confidence not found last season.

Lincoln came out flying but were soon brought back down to reality as Salisbury led them 4-0 at the half.

The Falcons then added more on in the second half. Making it 9-0 before Lincoln eventually scored.

After conceding Salisbury stayed on the attack but were not able to score. Until Ahmed Suleiman scored his first High School goal.

Salisbury has a strong history with districts winning it most recently in 2016 led by Head Coach Mark Allinson.

Mark Allinson gives lots of credit to the players who have stepped up this season.

“Jack Monahan, Jacob Knerr and Heriberto Hernandez, our captains have been providing crucial minutes down the stretch,” said Allinson. “ Andrew Grejda has been a strong force all season long and juniors Josh Hudak and Alejandro Zuniga Garcia have been providing the scoring punch along with Monahan.”

Coach Allinson also has his brick wall in net Blaine Berger to thank.

Blaine has been a solid force in net for us and has helped keep some games close and has made key saves to win others. He’s been really good for us this season.” Said Mark Allinson

The Falcons do have the strong squad to do it again.

Josh Hudak, one of the best players on the varsity squad with 23 goals this season, is hopeful in Salisbury’s first district game vs Wilson.

“Depending on how we played yesterday, we played amazing.” Said Josh Hudak, “I think we will play a great first round and beat Wilson and get to a rivalry game and will do our best.”

Many seniors and juniors remember playing in districts two seasons ago.

“When I was a Sophomore we made it to the second round.” Said Senior Anthony To.

The Falcons first district match will be against Wilson with the time and location to be decided.
