After Hurricane Milton and Tropical Storm Helene, Florida experienced significant flooding, power outages and property damage.
Emergency services were activated for rescue and recovery efforts, while local authorities worked to restore infrastructure.
Health and safety concerns arose due to flooding and debris, prompting ongoing updates.
Recovery efforts focused on supporting affected communities and restoring essential services.
President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden in a video message on Monday told those affected by Hurricane Helene that “we grieve with you,.” Joe Biden said, “the nation has your back.”
The Bidens said the Federal Emergency Management Agency was working to help those in need across several states.
CNN Correspondent Brian Todd in Fort Pierce, where at least one tornado and high winds wreaked havoc, pointed to an 18-wheeler truck that was picked up and slammed on its side by the storm.
“These trucks weigh about 18 tons when they’re empty, about 40 tons when they’re full,” Brian Todd said Thursday night, gesturing to the wreckage. “Just imagine the kind of power and the force it took to get this truck in this state.”
Hurricane Helene had a significant impact on Florida, highlighting the vulnerabilities and resilience of coastal communities.
